From Twillingate,
Newfoundland emerges a dynamic singer/songwriter
destined to be marked as one of the island's
finest musical artists. With a compilation of
over seventy songs and a striking, haunting
voice, Ada Piercey Jenkins is being noticed.
This is evident in her recent nomination for an
ECMA award for Blues Recording of the Year,
2006.
Described by a recent
concertgoer as "a musical massage", Ada's songs
reflect strong character, warmth and charm,
mixed with down-to-earth honesty and stark
reality. Her strong sense of humor threads
through, popping up to surprise and delight.
Hope and joy of life are never too far away. Ada
and her songs are appealing to listeners of all
ages, notably since this distinctive style is
subtly blended with classic elements of Rock and
Roll.
Ada's extensive
musical experience as a member of the well-known
group, The Split Peas, has been instrumental in
boosting her present rising stardom. Her many
years as sole songwriter for the group has laid
the foundation for her emergence as a unique and
professional solo artist.
Ada Blue, Ada's first
solo album, oozes with musical passion and
personal experience. Her follow-up album, Slight
Chance Of Rain, confirms her standing as one of
Newfoundland's pre-eminent songwriters. The
songs range from the uplifting A Little Rain
Must Fall, and the engaging Menopausal Blues, to
the longing of Come Sail Away. Luminous and
entrancing, Ada’s voice draws you in, you’re
caught, transported, but you don't mind, and you
like where you are. |
