Accolades, acclaim and success. These are some
of constants that make up Daniel O’Donnell’s
life. As each year passes, further achievements
come his way … more successful concert tours,
more chart records, more television appearances.
These days it seems that the successes are no
longer surprises and the achievements of
Ireland’s most popular "easy on the ear”
entertainer is taken for granted. Yet the
superstar remains as excited and enthused as
when he first launched his career. In keeping
with his nature, Daniel O’Donnell’s incredible
rise to the top began just as quietly and
modestly when he signed with Ritz Records in
1986, although the first inkling of success
didn’t come until the following year when his
second album, I Need You, slipped almost
unnoticed into the U.K. Country Album Charts. It
set a precedent that has seen every album that
followed entering these charts - and most of
them debuting right at the top - as well as
several of them regularly enjoying Top 20
positions at the same time.
