Jeanne Doucet Currie

Jeanne, an Acadian originally from the region of Clare, Nova Scotia, was a 2004 nominee for Female Artist Recording of the Year and for the Francophone Artist Recording of the year from the Music Industry of Nova Scotia, for her CD, En Acadie, nous voici! In March 2005, Jeanne was also the recipient of three 2004 Bartchette Prizes (Prix Bartchette). She was awarded prizes for having songs on the CIFA-FM top 10 of the year and for having the Acadian Song of the Year for 2004. She was also nominated for Female Artist of the Year and group or artist who does most to promote Acadian music outside of Southwest Nova Scotia.

Jeanne has appeared on Breakfast Television and provided entertainment for the Lieutenant Governor’s Garden Party in Halifax. Among her many other appearances, she has performed in Kings Theatre and at the Historic Gardens in Annapolis Royal, as well as Port Royal and Grand Pré, and her music has played on Radio-Canada out of Halifax, Moncton and Charlottetown. She was a featured artist in the first annual Musi-cadie in October 2004 in Annapolis Royal.
